Last evening, members of the Board of Directors selected former CSLL player Kayla Padilla as the 2016 CSLL Scholarship recipient. As the recipient, Kayla will receive $1,000 towards her studies at Virginia Tech this Fall. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank each student who applied. Every submission was very strong and each student should be proud of what they have accomplished academically, in the community and athletically to this point. All have exhibited the capability of doing great things going forward, and I am sure they will.
Kayla is an outstanding multi-sport athlete at Lee High School, who has been selected as team captain on every team, at every level. Additionally, Kayla is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, the historian for the Student Government Association and the Lee High School representative to the Student Advisory Council, not to mention her many hours of community service with different organizations. Kayla accomplished all of this while maintaining a GPA in excess of 4.1 in her International Baccalaureate studies.
As a member of CSLL, and two-time Sportsmanship Award recipient, Kayla played baseball at every level, to include two seasons in the Juniors.
Please help us in recognizing Kayla as the scholarship recipient at Closing Ceremonies on June 11.
